Out of reach

Yeah! I figured out how to upload videos from my new little camera.

I was teaching Tad how to roll a ball back and forth and he seemed to catch on pretty fast - he can roll it away from himself, but often forgets to let go, or he'll use his feet to finish pushing it away. Later that night we were trying to show daddy--- and try out the VideoFlip and this is what we got!

Isn't she a beauty!

For Christmas my parents got us a new kitchen faucet. Yes, this is what we asked for, because our tap would spray if you turned it on full blast. After changing the model so it would fit our sink, Fred finally had a free day to put it in. My dad did an awesome job picking out the style, I just wanted a sprayer & taller if possible! It's at least 1 1/2" taller than our last one - hopefully that will help around canning season.
It turned into an all day project, I'm not sure when
the last one was put in. I'm SO thankful for a HANDYMAN HUSBAND though! Not only is he willing to fix things himself, but he magically seems to know how to do EVERYTHING!

It's not my birthday

Nope, it's not. I turned 28 about 2 1/2 months ago. Officially, it was the day I was born, but for some reason whenever Fred has a birthday I automatically assume his same age- what a gyp!
After stressing whether Fred would get the day off to spend with me... he was able to- yippeee!
He went to classes in the morning. Then we caught the early show (it's $2 cheaper before noon) of When in Rome. Fred was the only guy in the theatre. The show was pretty good- I'd recommend it.
Then off to lunch & to play skeeball & airhockey (yes that's what I did last year too, there's not much to do for cheap around here, and it's something we don't do very often). After we picked up Tad from my parents' house (Thanks for tending on short notice) it was present time. I begged Fred not to make me wait until 10pm like usual. :}
He did awesome! A new computer program for editing my pictures and a CD changer sound system so I don't have to just listen to Tad's music all the time. He made me a pasta dinner & we just chilled at home for the evening. We also tried a new flavor of cake - Butter Pecan w/ caramel frosting --- delicious!
The next night we had Mexican out with Fred's family - always a good time! Unfortunately I had to leave the table to change the baby and that gave them time to tell the waitress it was my birthday. I'm sure the pictures of me wearing a sombrero are terrible. :{
I was spoiled again - clothes, mittens(!) & a DELUXE cribbage board (I just learned how to play a few weeks ago, but I need to practice a lot if I'm ever going to beat mom & Grammee. I'm going to teach my family so I have someone I can beat!) I also got a fun new video flip camera - as soon as I figure it out I'll be able to post videos of Tad. He's getting to a very fun, active age and it'll be nice to record the things that make us laugh- as well as share video with mom while she's back east.
I laughed when I realized that Fred made me Italian food, we had Mexican with his family, and I requested Chinese for my family dinner. I guess I don't really have a favorite type of food huh?
Unfortunately because of Fred's work schedule we had to postpone dinner with my family for a week, but that's not a completely bad thing, I can drag out the birthday treats for awhile! :} (My poor diet!)

Winterfest 2010

What a riot!
Saturday my (little) sister wanted to go to the Winterfest in Ogden. Fred needed to study so I decided to go with her. I was glad I left Tad home since it was cold & crowded - - unfortunately he didn't take a nap for Fred. (Luckily Fred's mom stopped by and played with Tad so Fred did get a little studying done.)
My mom, Crystal & I had a great time. They had a bunch of fun activities to watch:
Skijouring (skiers/ snowboarders being pulled by a horse)

Human Dog Slesd Racing (& costume contest)
The winner got $600!!!! and registration was free!
Snowmobile racing
They brought in a ton of snow and closed off a couple of roads in downtown. I have to say I was impressed with their planning & events. I'd definitely go again!
Later that night Fred & I just did a small Valentine's dinner out then chilled on the couch watching the Olympics!

Triple post

It was a busy weekend - Hockey, eating for the first time, and 6 month pictures. He's growing fast and the more he learns the more I enjoy it!
1-He loves his reflection and thinks it's the coolest friend ever! He'll look in the mirror & reach for his friend & just smile.
2-He loves peek-a-boo and can pull the blanket off his own face and pull it up again to play.
3- He can turn pages in his story books without help!
4- He tells us when he's tired - today he reached for his crib, I layed him down, he put his thumb in his mouth and was out!
5- He loves to jump or stand (if only he could do it on his own)
6- He loves anything with numbers: remotes, calculators, daddy's laptop, the kitchen timer, etc.

Learning to eat

It's finally time to start eating real food! (If you count rice cereal & pureed veggies as real food.) His first bite came right back out & down his chin. After that he did pretty good, especially for being stuffy.

2 out of 6

We're on cold #2 - when we were at the doctor last time he said 6 a year is common.
Poor kid was up every 2 hours and I finally ended up sitting in the rocking chair with him from 5-7am.
The sad part is I can probably guess where he got his cold.

The Weber Hockey game (they lost). Of course the game didn't start until 8:30pm, but being a new parent I thought if he was tired enough he'd fall asleep. Nope. And he didn't want to sit under the blankets on dad's lap. This is what he wanted:

He jumped and squealed through the whole game and fell asleep as soon as we got in the car. He squealed loud enough that people turned around to look at him. :} That's our boy!
We took him to the rodeo at 5 weeks, hockey at 6 months, Fred says next is either the race tracks or football.

Church may be hazardous to Tad's health

Naptime always falls during church and Tad won't sleep very long if he's in his carseat or being held. So we plan our Sunday morning carefully. I fed Tad, let him play for awhile, then Fred got him dressed and put him in his carseat to take a nap. He fussed a little, but fell asleep. We headed off to church and sure enough he woke up during Sacrament meeting. Fred tried to rock him back to sleep, but eventually we just took him out. I noticed a big scratch across his neck....
Fred said it wasn't there when he put him in the seat, there's no way I could have scratched him with my ring, and there's nothing sharp in his carseat - it must be his nails! I've been looking at them for a couple of days thinking I should trim them. :{
During Sunday School I had him playing on the floor with some toys. He does pretty good sitting up by himself, but if he reaches for anything or gets distracted he tips over. That's exactly what he did. When I picked him up he had a bloody nose. What a traumatic day!
So, the final hour of church I was betting he wouldn't last, surprisingly, he played on his blanket and flirted with the lady next to me & the guy behind us (it was combined). He finally got tired the last 5 minutes. For once it was me that was done & ready to go, not him. That last hour was the best he's ever been during church - after such a rough start to the day!
Any ideas how to get him to take his nap at church?
