Powerwheels are dangerous! (** warning: gross pics!)

I don't blame anyone, but myself.  I HATE shoes.  I don't wear shoes.  Except when I absolutely have to.  I dislike shoes, even if they're comfortable.  They are the first thing I take off when I get home, even before I put down my purse or car keys!   So of course I went outside Friday evening without shoes on (just socks).  Tad was playing in a powerwheels jeep that is at grandpa's house.  He's too short to reach the pedal, but I taught him how to sit forward and push on the pedal.  He drove around a little and when I turned him around he headed for the house.  I tried to stop him before he hit the house and the Jeep lurched forward on my foot and the tire spun.  I went in the house to sit out the pain, but when I took off my sock I saw....

 Since the nail was pulled up I went to instacare to have them rip it the rest of the way off.   Seriously, I didn't realize a dumb toe injury could hurt so much.  The visit to instacare was amusing.   Crystal took me, and while sitting in the waiting room, a lady from my old job came in, we had a nice chat while we waited. 
We were taken back to a room, but the nurse looked at my toe and moved us to the "Surgery" room.  Crystal and I had a good time (for 2 hours!) making jokes.  The doctor looked at my toe like she didn't even know where to start.  I ended up soaking it, and getting 2 numbing shots (the red dots lower on my toe).  Then she pulled some of the nail off.   It looks like my toe was "scalped"! This is the after product of the doctor's work. 

Finally, we were on our way home, with a very numb, bandaged toe and a sore arm from a tetanus shot.  Dad had milkshakes waiting with our dinner when we got home.  Tad looked at my toe then continued playing. 

Fred was sympathetic and came home from work with a frosty and fries - perfect comfort food as the numbing wore off.   The worst part is the tip, I never realized how much touches the tip of your big toe.  
Of course a sore toe couldn't keep me down.  Crystal, Tad and I went to the zoo at 7:30am (!!!) to see the animals waking up.  It was pretty fun though.  Tad laughed at the Kangaroo jumping around.  It may be his new favorite animal.
